My Story

Let me tell you about how I became a UX designer/researcher:

Like many, I enjoyed a nontraditional journey into usability design. My professional path to becoming a certified UX designer began with a brief dalliance during my senior year of college. My collegiate concentration was in criminal justice and psychology- although I did not have a specific profession in mind, I held a strong passion to improve and strengthen my community. For my final Honors requirement, I was tasked with creating a thesis to tie up my degree. Unlike most, I decided to curate a thesis outside of my degree plan and take a more creative approach. As shown in my selected projects, I did a case study on the usability of certain immersive design features in visual graphic narratives. This project was a thrilling 'side quest' that created a memorable ending of such an incredible experience.

Upon graduating, I began working for various government agencies as an ombudsperson- using my degree in criminal justice and psychology to the best of my ability. However, I realized how unfulfilled I became in my field and desired a change that allowed me to connect my desire of giving back to my community, research, and enjoying life to the fullest. In my reflection, I remembered the first time I truly enjoyed work was when I was conducting a usability study. That is when I decided to transition into UX design work and obtain my professional certification!

Now, here I am as a UX designer and researcher. Alongside my design and research work, I also do contract procurement work for my clients- specifically, Precision Med Logistics LLC. After designing their website and creating their business workspace background, the CEO also requested that I become their Contract Procurement Specialist due to the high-quality work done on their site and business.
